There are a number of very modern, multiplex movie the-

some European and Latin American ones thrown in for
good measure. More often than not, the English-language
films have Spanish subtitles, but sometimes they are dubbed - so
check in advance if your Spanish isn't great.

Shopping
There is no shortage of shopping in Quito, much of it re-
volving around street traders and stalls set up along
Amazonas and in the main parks. The Old City is always
bustling with traders, shoppers and street entertainers.
Most of the goods on sale are for the locals - with everything from
food, clothing and toiletries to electronic equipment and household
items, such as clothes pegs and mops. It's great to wander along the
streets on Sunday afternoon and just soak up the atmosphere. Be
careful though, as pickpockets are known to operate here.
