irreversibel. Nach ihnen ist eine Eindämmung des Genflusses nicht möglich, vor
allem nicht bei selbstreproduzierenden GVO. Solange Bt-Mais wie bisher nur
in Einzelfällen Winterhärte aufweist, wäre für Deutschland eine Rückholbarkeit
theoretisch umsetzbar. Strenge Managementmaßnahmen (z. B. Unterbindung von
Saatgutaustausch, Reinigung, Entsorgung) und strikte Regelungen wären Vorausset-
zung. Damit einher ginge ein erheblicher Aufwand in zeitlicher, organisatorischer
und vor allem auch finanzieller Hinsicht. Wäre dies für transgenen Mais „auf-
wändig“, so könnte man vor diesem Hintergrund bei vielen anderen GVO, wie
z. B. transgenem Raps, von „unrealistisch“ sprechen (Menzel 2006 ). Aussagen
zur Problematik invasiver Arten lassen sich hierher übertragen: Viele Fälle haben
trotz vielfältiger Bemühungen und überaus hoher finanzieller Kosten nur geringe
Aussicht auf Erfolg (Mack et al. 2000 , Myers et al. 2000 ).
