After a recent face-lift, this complex emerged encased
in curved glass screens. Inside are restaurants, bars,
a wine cellar, cinemas and stores, including a news
kiosk (with international press), a gift shop and a
pharmacy. It's the latest hip hang-out.

Renaud Pellegrino handbag maestro

For over 20 years, Renaud Pellegrino has been mixing
fabrics and techniques and turning out exceptional
handbags: a silk bag in the shape of a matchbox, one
dusted with Murano glass pearls, another in multi-
coloured leather and linen. Many of his creations are
inspired by the canvasses of Matisse and Braque.

Department Stores
From cutting-edge designs to must-have basics, the
city's department stores cater to all needs and
tastes. France's oldest is the swanky Bon Marché .
With its serious men's and women's fashion, Paris's
best lingerie selection, and photo and fashion
exhibitions, it is ideal for a bout of relaxed retail
therapy. Over on the Right Bank, Galéries Lafayette

has bigger crowds but offers all the top designers, a
water and champagne bar, and the chic Lafayette
Maison for homewares. The largest beauty hall of
all Parisian department stores belongs to Printemps :
two floors and 200 brands of make-up, fragrances
and skin care. They've also got a luxury fashion
floor and a men's store with the Nickel spa (see
