Hervé Gambs man-made flowers
9bis rue des Blancs Manteaux, 4ème • 01 44 59 88 88
www.hervegambs.fr Open 11-7:30 Tue-Sat, 2-7:30 Sun
Hervé is the man when it comes to artificial flowers. In
fact, his silky blooms are so convincing that it's hard
to tell his white orchids, purple calla lilies or trailing
bamboo leaves from the real thing. As befits their
couture status, there are two collections a year that
reflect the latest horticultural trends.

Calligrane paper chase
4-6 rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, 4ème • 01 48 04 31 89
Open 11-7 Tue-Sat
Calligrane's three adjoining shops are devoted to the art of calligraphy
and paper products. One specializes only in Fabriano, an Italian paper
favoured by Goya and Michelangelo; another sells up-market briefcase
and desk essentials; the third stocks textured paper from India, Brazil,
Japan, China and Mexico - and holds occasional shows by artists
working with paper. Simply sublime gifts for writers and artists.

Yukiko vintage passions
97 rue Vieille du Temple, 4ème • 01 42 71 13 41
Open 11-7 Tue-Sun
Yukiko is mad about vintage clothes, particularly
furs. She searches all over the place, uncovering rare
pieces that she then customizes to sell in her snug
and charming Marais boutique.
Set on the quieter end of a bustling thoroughfare,
this hole in the wall is crammed with wonderful old
things, though contemporary gear by Stella Cadente
(see p87) is also stocked, as well as lesser-known
designers with a penchant for making old things
like new again. You might be lucky enough to
stumble upon an original Dior vanity case, some
funky leather bags from the 1970s, pristine 50s
pumps or clingy knee-high Barbarella -style boots.
There's lots of retro jewellery too, including flashy
rings, overstated bracelets and shiny enamel
brooches. It's hard to get out of the door without
falling for at least one of Yukiko's treasures.
