Les Cailloux casual yet classy
58 rue des Cinq-Diamants, 13ème • 01 45 80 15 08
Open lunch & dinner Tue-Sat
The owners of Les Cailloux are on to a winning formula
with this Italian wine bar-restaurant located in the
villagey Butte-aux-Cailles (see p159) . Some 40 wines
are available, half of them Italian and a few by the
glass, and the food (linguine with crab, roasted pepper
with mozzarella) is simple but satisfying. Moderate
Tricotin Oriental roundup
15 ave de Choisy, 13ème • 01 45 84 74 44 • Q Porte de Choisy
Open lunch & dinner daily
It won't win any prizes for decor or location, but
Tricotin wins out with its steaming display of Chinese,
Cambodian, Thai and Vietnamese dishes. It's frantic,
canteen-style eating, but the food is fresh and very
affordable: pho , the Vietnamese meal-in-a-bowl soup,
is the bargain deal. Cheap

Natacha family values
17bis rue Campagne-Première, 14ème • 01 43 20 79 27
Open lunch & dinner Mon-Sat, lunch only Sun
Long a fashion haunt, Natacha is a family affair, with young chef
Alain Cirelli running the kitchen while his mother is front of house.
And following a home-cooking tradition, many dishes are served in
their casseroles: a roasted pheasant nestles in a copper pot and
hachis parmentier (shepherd's pie) comes in a cast-iron dish.
Desserts are similarly comforting. Moderate

Au Petit Marguery timeless bistro
9 boulevard de Port-Royal, 13ème • 01 43 31 58 59
Open lunch & dinner Tue-Sat
This bistro is famous for its game, and in winter it
serves up the classic dish lièvre à la royale , a
complex creation involving hare, foie gras, wine and
blood. Service can be grumpy, but the clientele of
local gourmands tucking into pâtés and partridge
creates an atmosphere of pure enjoyment
