Royal Fromentin
good-value good times
11 rue Fromentin, 9ème • 01 48 74 85 93
www.hotelroyalfromentin.com
It was a swinging 1930s cabaret spot, and entertaining
is still part of this hotel's soul: it is often the hotel of
choice for bands playing at the nearby concert halls.
The lobby bar's decor recalls the good old days, while
some of the agreeable rooms have amazing views
which will inspire anyone to get lyrical. Cheap

Hotel Terrass
lovely location
12-14 rue Joseph de Maistre, 18ème • 01 44 92 34 14
www.terrass-hotel.com
The Terrass offers a peaceful night's sleep in down-to-
earth Montmartre. The decor is immaculate, if a little
bland, but the welcome is warm and the trendy
location hard to beat. In summer, the roof-top
restaurant barbecue is very romantic and quite an
“in” destination with fashionable folk. Moderate

Hotel Langlois
atmospheric charm
63 rue St-Lazare, 9ème
01 48 74 78 24
Formerly the Hotel des Croises, this place's name
changed after it was featured as the Hotel Langlois in
the 2002 movie
The Truth about Charlie
. The pristine
Art Nouveau building hides a rickety lift that takes
guests to rooms stuffed with antiques and charm,
some of which boast stunning views. Cheap
Aparthotels
If you're after a private pad, aparthotels are the way
to go. The most luxurious is the
Carré dOr
complex
off the Champs-Elysées, popular with A-listers from
the worlds of film, fashion and serious wealth. Less
stratospheric, but still impressive, are the
Citadines
buildings dotted around the city (the best is in St-
Germain), which are generally favoured by those
whose company is picking up the tab. At the
Hotel
Résidence Henri IV
, the atmosphere is much more
intimate, with its five apartments located off a
beautiful square in the 5ème. The studios run by
Hotel du Degrès du Notre Dame
also offer a Left
Bank address, but a more vibrant one. Independent
lets (of at least one week) can also be found via
France Apartments
. For further details,
see p226.
