Caveau des Oubliettes weird & wacky
52 rue Galande, 5ème • 01 46 34 23 09
Open to 2am Mon-Thu, to 5am Fri & Sat
Any place that lays real turf on the floor in the
summer, proudly sports a huge guillotine near the
bar, and organizes superb jazz jam sessions on
Tuesdays in the cellar basement has got to be worth a
visit. La Caveau des Oubliettes is utterly barmy,
incredibly friendly and thoroughly good fun.

Le Pantalon bargain drinks
7 rue Royer Collard, 5ème • no phone
Open to 2am Mon-Sat
Due to the cheapness of the beer and wine, this bar
pulls in an unlikely mix of Sorbonne students and
pensioners. The bar staff are ebullient and friendly,
the decor is bizarre (disco lights and palm trees in
the loos) and there's always a rack of hard-boiled
eggs on the counter, should you fancy a bar snack.

Le Crocodile anti-chic cocktail bar
6 rue Royer Collard, 5ème • 01 43 54 32 37
Open to 5am Mon-Sat
Yes, you do have to hammer on the closed shutters to
get in, but, once there, expect a warm welcome and a
phenomenal drinks list. This tiny bar offers over 200
cocktails, so don't be fazed if you are given paper
and pen and a request to provide the drink's number
along with its name when ordering.

Fubar small but perfectly formed
5 rue St-Sulpice, 6ème • 01 40 51 82 00
Open to 2am daily
Though the original owner, Sean, has moved on,
regulars of this bar should not panic and newcomers
should still get excited: the cocktails remain potent
and the atmosphere outstanding. The minuscule
downstairs bar is often packed and rowdy, so head
to the upstairs seating area if you want a quiet chat.
