Target Data and Reference Files
As you've seen, there are a number of targets available for producing
printer profiles. Most are unique to the profiling application and most are
custom-tailored to a specific Spectrophotometer. The host software
product usually has some user interface for loading the target, recogniz-
ing the measuring instrument and allowing the user to go through the
process of measuring the data. When the process is complete, a file with
all the measured data usually is created and saved (see Fig. 6-17). This is
optional in some products but you should always save this data file. Most
packages save the data as LAB values even though the Spectrophotome-
