target are based on reflective print paper. Like the IT8s or HCT scanner
targets, a TDF (target description file) accompanies camera targets. The
TDF has all the measured data of the color patches on the targets and
these targets are available as either hand measured or batch measured.
With even a handheld “one patch at a time” Spectrophotometer, it is not
difficult to measure these targets to create a custom TDF. You will need
some software like GretagMacbeth's MeasureTool or X-Rite's ColorShop to
define the target, measure the data, and then save out the TDF.
Photographing the Targets
Naturally the target to be photographed should be clean and in good con-
dition. Shooting the targets is fairly critical to the success and accuracy
of the resulting profile. Once again, the debate among the experts comes
into play here. Some experts suggest that all you have to do is set up a
