If you are providing an image to a Macintosh user and you are unsure
if they will view this image in an ICC-aware application, provide the
image in ColorMatch RGB or Apple RGB. If you are providing an image
to a Windows user, use sRGB. If the image is to be placed on a web site
(Macintosh or PC), convert the image into sRGB. Be aware that since
these images are not being handled by an ICC-aware application, there
is no insurance they will preview identically. But using these recom-
mendations should provide the best compromise. To get a better idea of
what your images will look like outside of ICC-savvy applications, you
can use Photoshop's Proof Setup and pick Windows RGB or Macintosh RGB
as discussed earlier. Note that this will not preview the images as all users
will see them outside of non-ICC aware applications. Obviously you are
viewing the images on a calibrated display. See Tutorial #8, “The Photo-
shop Soft Proof” in Chapter 9.
