Third-Party Software and Hardware Products
There are a number of software products on the market that mate with
an instrument, usually a Colorimeter, for the purpose of display calibra-
tion and profiling. Most products begin the process by asking the user to
identify whether they are using an LCD or CRT display since the soft-
ware will need to conduct the calibration differently for each (see the
sidebar, “Calibration for LCD and CRT”). Usually the next step is to set
the software for the calibration target, such as white point and gamma.
