The
Proof Setup
dialog in Photoshop CS
has a number of options
once a user selects the
profile to use for soft-
proofing an image. Once
configured, the settings
can be saved and will
appear in a list within the
Proof Setup
menu as seen
in Fig. 2-19. Please see the
cutouts of the
Simulate
check boxes in Fig. 2-21
since the rendering intents
used for soft-proofing are
the same for these check
boxes.

The
Customize
Proof Condition
dialog in
Photoshop CS2 has new
names for the check boxes
that apply the
Paper Color
and
Black Ink
simulation
as seen here. Otherwise
the functionality is the
same as that shown in Fig.
2-20. The cutouts shown
here for the
Display
Options
affect the
rendering intent used for
previews to the screen.
Both check boxes off
produce relative
colorimetric intent with
Black Point Compensation.
Both check boxes on
produce absolute
colorimetric intent without
Black Point Compensation.
These only affect the on-
screen soft proof.
Setup
dialog (called
Customize Proof Condition
in Photoshop CS2) is the
place to access ICC profiles, configure the soft-proof options, and save
these options for immediate usage. The ICC profile for soft-proofing is
selected in the
Profile
pop-up menu. Next we select a rendering intent
and optionally
Black Point Compensation
for the generation of the soft
proof. In Photoshop CS2 the ICC profile is selected in the pop-up menu
called
Device to Simulate
but the functionality is the same as earlier. Once
