With Jean Fischer and Helge Claudi Westh as guides, key
persons from the US “Mod-0” project were visiting the
historical Danish wind turbines at Gedser in August 1974—
here looking at the FLS Aeromotor from 1943 (Photo in the
FLS files of the Danish Wind Historical Collection).
During the following months, NASA published a translation
of the technical description and servicing instructions for the FLS
Aeromotor [16]. Fischer and Westh were invited to a workshop
in Washington in June 1975. Only Jean Fischer took part [17], but
Claudi Westh delivered a paper comparing the technology of the
Danish Aeromotor and Juul's Gedser turbine with two new US
100 kW turbines. After the workshop, one of Jean Fisher's Darrieus
models was on the cover of the
Science
magazine in July 1975.
