Looking Ahead
Just like the predecessors that I deeply respect, I am fortunate to
have witnessed the journey of growth of the wind power industry
and to catch up with the wave of wind power development. As for
China General Certification Center, this wave would not guarantee
a thriving future, so CGC should continue to create higher values
for customers with innovative certification technologies.
During the past decade, CGC has made positive contributions
to the development of renewable energy in China by completing
various tasks, including renewable energy projects of the 10th,
11th, and 12th Five-Year Plans, establishing a test lab for wind
turbines and a national key lab for simulation, test and certification
technology of wind and solar energy, and was the strategic partner
of the newly-established China Renewable Energy Center. However,
in face of the challenges of fossil energy exhaustion and climate
change, CGC will need to work harder, to take more responsibilities
to promote cooperation between China and the world, and to open
up new development for clean energy. Only this way can we live up
to the era we live in.
I am honoured that on 2 February 2012, Mr Sandy
Butterfield, the chairman of IEC TC88, affirmed the contributions
and accomplishments made by CGC in wind energy in his
recommendation letter to Ms Magubane, director-general of the
Department of Energy of South Africa. Sandy Butterfield said, “I
see a well-established certification system operating in China, I
see the CGC participating actively in the newly established IEC
Certification Advisory Committee (CAC) which was established to
facilitate international certification harmonisation. In short, I see
a responsible certification organisation that is deeply engaged with
the international certification process and deserves recognition
for their accomplishments.”
I feel honoured and obliged to Sandy Butterfield's affirmation
on the work of CGC and his heartfelt assistance in the inter-
nationalisation of certification. CGC will always uphold the
core philosophy of “Create Value for Customers” and make new
contributions to the development of clean energy in China and in
the world.
