In-Depth Information
By that time, Company had a long list of customers and even
accepted an initial payment from those striving for faster delivery.
Shipping to customers had been postponed several times, mostly
due to start-up difficulties at company branch in China and the
delay with designing of controller. At that point of time Company
had to bite the bullet and choose between damage to its reputation
because of poor quality of controller or because of another delay.
Angry customer calls and need for cash flow skewed the balance
towards the former. Knowing that Turbine was still in raw state,
Company took a brave decision: Turbine warranty was set to five
years.

And warranty claims did not fail to come up in large numbers.
The very beginning of manufacturing is always associated with
correcting defects, hopefully small. All usual stuf was showing up:
stainless screws were too brittle, blades needed bigger washes,
brush springs lacked stifness, and cast iron tower mount was
subject to excessive fatigue. But the controller was the “weakest
link”. Some decisions by its designers came from applying PV
experience to wind controller.
