Intensive study of the wind turbine technology.
This tour of California occurred just after President Reagan's
second term of office and when most American renewable energy
policies were disappearing. In 1986, Vind-Syssel Wind Energy
Systems, one of the early Danish manufacturers led by Flemming
Østergaard, with Smiley's assistance attempted to enter the United
States wind energy market. Vind-Syssel, advancing Folkecenter's
designs and working with LM Glasfiber, pioneered the hydraulic
