It was possible to stick to the planned inauguration date of the
wind farm, 22 June 1996. Nearly 400 visitors came to the wind farm,
accompanied by jazz music, and witnessed the “christening”.

Each wind turbine was christened with a female name from
four diferent generations. The wind turbine “Save the Seas” got the
name Sophie (Sophie Schmidt), my five-year-old granddaughter,
representing the generation which will implement the energy
turnaround. She was still so young, that she could just barely hold
the bottle of sparkling wine with which the dedication of the name
was carried out.
“Mecklenburg Countryside” got the name Lotte (Lotte Bösch),
the oldest citizen of Lübow, who brought a baking tray of cake
