An extraordinary encounter in the Environmental Authority
in Grevesmühlen brought us the colours back, and this is what
happened: Public art also has to be authorised, as does everything
in Germany. I took the four art drafts out of my bag and spread
them out on the authority's desk. Everything according to the
representation of tree trunks was held in a brown tone. The civil
servant asked quite rightly, why everything was so brown. Could
one not design it colourfully according to the four seasons? This
suggestion took away our fear that the authorisation might have
been turned down, and the artists completed their artworks in a
blaze of colours.
“The Creation” by Hans W. Scheibner, expressed agricultural
reality. Tractors driving downwards and crashing was a symbolic
description of the agricultural situation after the reunification.

The motif “The Mecklenburg Countryside” by Willi Günter, was
a sea of colours with lots of small details waiting to be discovered, as
we see it in Mecklenburg from spring to winter.
To further enhance the level of acceptance in agreement with
the artists, we organised a children's painting event, which entailed
