to death in a coal dust explosion in the legendary briquette factory
of Plessa, the place with the first conveyor bridge in Europe, on the
verge of the 0th century.

22.1 How Did It Start with the 'Wind'?

I was sitting on a plane in the late autumn of 996, and was
sleepily paging through the in-flight magazine and was suddenly
widely awake. Was it my face and that of my project partner from
Hamburg Halstenbek, Rosemarie Rübsamen, in the magazine?
The title of the article was “No Fear of Megawatts and Millions—an
East-West Story of Success”. Our story was now in numerous
articles and our eforts were honoured with the EUROSOLAR
Prize in 996.

It all began in 1991, with EUROSOLAR and meeting with
Dr Hermann Scheer. I began to rethink energy, after 0 years of
experience in teaching and research at the University of Wismar,
at the University Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo, Mozambique, and
studies at the Technical University in Kiev.
