In-Depth Information
coverage with technology and services within one to two decades
in Luxembourg and Europe. Luxembourg with its both urban and
rural structures and its elaborate and reliable information and
communication technology (ICT) infrastructure being an ideal
pioneer area, SnT, together with Luxembourg's utility CREOS and
the support of Luxembourg's Fonds National de Recherche is
committed to the long-term active-grid strategic framework.
With a data-processing layer adjoined to the existing electricity
grid infrastructures as precondition for a “smarter”, that is, active-
grid, progress is crucially depending on new distributed system
and control technology solutions. Especially the grid operators like
CREOS are facing new challenges. With their leading responsibility
in integration, they need to maintain reliability, safety and
security in a much more complex situation with an increasing
number of distributed feed-in and storage units to be integrated,
with wind power in a substantial share.
