Allgaier also developed wind turbines for the first wind
park in Germany. In November 1953 the Water Administration
Office in Meppen put eight wind turbines of the type WE-10 into
operation near Papenburg in the Emsland in order to create power
for a pump station. For 10 years, the 3-bladed wind turbines at
the “Nenndorfer Hammrich” pumped out groundwater and rain-
water which due to a dyke no longer had natural drainage towards
the river Ems.
