A Genuine Pioneer: Claus Nybroe
Many more than those mentioned in this chapter worked with
windmills. Some other work of history must catch up with what I
have neglected or overlooked and do it before it is too late and
the key persons have passed away. My experience has been that
whenever I dug one spit deeper in the Danish wind history 1974-
1980 a wealth of new sources were revealed for future researchers
to bring forward.
But let this overview be finished with a far too short mention
of a pioneer who has for almost 40 years left his strong mark on the
development of contemporary wind power.
Architect, writer, developer, missionary, inventor, and manu-
facturer Claus Nybroe has been described as one of the most brilliant
designers of windmills in the twentieth century. One of the first
stamps that he placed together with Carl Herforth was incredibly
