Thymøllen has obtained important shares on the emerging
household windmill market for their pretty and robust design.
House owners in the countryside place such windmills in the corner
of their gardens, about 25 m from the buildings. The windmills
are grid-connected and benefit from the net-metering principle
where each kWh of self supply has the value of the purchase price
of electricity. In Denmark power costs are rather high as 65% of the
kWh price are various kinds of taxes.

from Kongsted on Zealand passed from
active OVE, a leading Danish NGO, grassroots to manufacturers. They
actually made some of the best windmills of the period.

The type though of a conventional design was in some aspects
ahead of its time with a heavy duty Stephan gear of the integrated
type, well dimensioned and with a legendary longevity and good
performance.
They stopped in 1982 after a score of windmills and three years
in the business. The only reason for that was that they could not
