The Kramsbjerg Windmill: A Technical 
Innovation
Small windmills for individual homes was the marked segment
that Jørgen Kramsbjerg Hansen went for with his 15 kW Kramsbjerg
wind turbine, which emerged in 1983-1984. Hansen was technically
knowledgeable and had during some years been developing his
construction of a three blade downwind turbine with KJ blades.
His windmill used an industrial gear with a safety factor of almost
three or far more than those of the established factories. The
windmill had a great deal of technical refinements compared to
the general standards within the business. Thus the generator was
not a traditional asynchronous engine connected to the grid.
Jørgen Hansen used a Danish Transmotor synchronous
generator normally used as a generator in smaller ships. It ofered
the advantage that it was possible to adjust the generator to
particular operational conditions by regulating the energising
