In-Depth Information
At the same time a windmill of the same size as the Serritslev
Blacksmith's was developed by a teacher,
in Karby,
on the island of Mors. He enjoyed the advantage of an excellent
location close to the waters of the Limfjord. As soon as there was
some wind, the turbine could have kept the entire house warm.
Georg Pedersen built the windmill all by himself, using parts
from a lorry as well as new parts. “I used old records and my own
calculations,” he said to local daily newspaper
Georg Pedersen
Morsø Folkeblad
in November 1975. It is not easy to find any new data on how to
build a windmill; but if only you are able to read and do sums it can
be done.
Everything concerning the construction and capacity has been
meticulously calculated,” said Georg Pedersen, who had already built
his first heating windmill in 1974, during the energy crisis. In some
respect it worked well, but it had a wooden tower, which was not
sufficiently dimensioned. “One day it simply tipped over.”
An American-type wind rose, from the plumber's enterprise
Peter Jensen & Sønner
in Frederikshavn, satisfied the needs of
the market. They were practical people who made a wind turbine
at a price level that sold to hundreds of people who wanted to
make their own wind-generated heating. It was a simple and
sensible household windmill. The rotor was mounted directly on
the integrated gear from the Aalborg enterprise DESMI, while
the generator was a 10 kW British synchronous engine.
