About the author
born in 1946 in Faaborg,
Fyn, Denmark. From 1976, Jane was
involved in grassroots work for sustainable
develop-ment as opposed to nuclear power
and traditional fossil energy supply. In
1988, she became head of a private wind
turbine corporation including 50 families.
She also co-owns an ecological farm of
12 hectares, and lives and works at the
Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable
Energy, Denmark. She is one of the
founding members of Folkecenter and secretary of the board
for 11 years. Jane is also the head of the Information & Training
Programs Department of Folkecenter. Since 1999, she has
managed various projects at Folkecenter, including establishment
of test facility for wave power machines, testing of wave power
machines, and testing of small windmills from 400 W to 25 kW.
Jane has been the editor, author and photographer of many
Folkecenter publications.
Besides being an indispensable member of Folkecenter, Jane has
also been board member for the Committee for Green Technology
(under the Danish Engineer Association) and Centre for Rural
Area Development (Aalborg University under Minister of the
Interrior). She is closely attached to many NGOs working on renewable
energy. Her many years of experience ranges from coordinating
European and international renewable energy information tours
to handling projects concerning developing countries and training
courses; advising the Danish Energy Agency and the Home
Secretary of Danish Ministry on their renewable energy projects;
and managing various local and international projects within
renewable energy, including those funded by the European Union,
Danish Ministry of Energy, Danish Ministry of Home Afairs, Danish
Ministry of Foreign Afairs, and Danish Ministry of Housing. Jane
is also actively involved in local politics, and since January 2011
she is member of the Thisted Municipality Council.
