and utilised the Folkecenter designs. It was now possible to buy
important components such as blades, towers and controls from
independent, specialised sub-suppliers. In this field we went one
step further; for small enterprises it must be easy and with low
investment levels, to get started. This was the reason why we had
to find an alternative to the costly welded base frames, on which
the established windmill producers installed the bearings, gears,
generators, etc.

Only one unit was built in the island of Møn of this 150 kW wind
turbine of Folkecenter-design. The idea was local production
and local ownership. Car mechanics Kaj Hansen and teacher
Svend Olaf Højlund mobilised the island's community. Both
have passed away but in 2013 the wind turbine still produces
clean power for the islanders that celebrated its inauguration.
The Folkecenter wanted to integrate all of this in a compact
unit and in the technical quality, which was now required by the
market and the approval authorities. We were in close contact with
a number of big European gear factories, which had many years
