In-Depth Information
Orders for Riisager's windmills poured in. He made an endless
number of design changes throughout the years, with changing
cooperation partners in the industrial environment. However,
blades, tower and controls remained the same; but in regular
intervals, Riisager created quite new technical solutions with new
drive trains and nacelles for his windmills. At one time Christian
Riisager preferred Italian planetary gears from big earth-moving
machines that proved to be extremely noisy, at another a proper
machine construction from Sonebjerg Maskinfabrik near Kolding.

An industrial adventure was expected when windmill maker
Riisager turned up in Vordingborg, where in the mid-1980s, a wood
industry was looking forward to become an important supplier of
laminated wood blades for Riisager.
The dreams, however, never became true. At the time, several
new competitors had turned up, and they worked by a quite diferent
concept. They were able to provide an up-to-date industrial product
with well-constructed mechanisms, wrapped in a modern design
which harmonised far better with the spirit of the times.
The new people also had an enormous advantage—they did
not have to design and make everything themselves; a new industry
of specialised sub-suppliers with compatible components had
emerged, and they did not fit in with Riisager's concept. The drawings
