Using Eyedropper in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve really only has eyedroppering in a limited form as part of the Color Tab in the Qualifier tab. To use
this feature, select the Qualifier tab, then the RGB tab. There is a Color Picker icon in the bottom right corner of the
tab. This Color Picker is supposed to be used to select colors for secondary color correction, but using it to analyze a
specific pixel or group of pixels is definitely possible. See Figure 3.38 .
Fig. 3.38
When the eyedropper icon is black, it is active. Move the cursor up to the Viewer in the upper left corner and the
cursor will be a black-and-white crosshair. Click or drag over any portion of the picture to analyze it. The red, green,
and blue bars in the RGB tab show a proportional graph of how much red, green, and blue is in that pixel or area
of pixels. However, the bars don't show whether the pixels are dark or light. They just show the relative “weight” of
each color channel to each other. To the right of the colored bars are numerical sliders. These sliders provide some
numerical data about the selected pixels, but the numerical data is really supposed to be used to qualify (choose)
pixel ranges for secondary color correction.
