is in fact a fertile academic ground. Indeed, the growing mobility and availability of
new information interfaces generate new uses which represent a large field of
cognitive, psychological and sociological study [FRE 96], [JEM 00].
2.3. The example of the P @ ss - ITS project
The P@ss-ITS project was funded by the PREDIM program 1 . Its objective was
to design a traveler information system enabling us to evaluate the advantages of
providing the users of a multimodal public transport network with real-time
information, particularly in the event of a disruption (works, accident, expected or
unexpected strike). This project was tested in the urban area of Orleans, France. It
was developed in association with the research laboratories of UMR CNRS 6599 ‒
Heudiasyc and ODIC of the University of Technology of Compiègne, the National
Institute for Research in Terrestrial Transport, and the companies ALSTOM
(Transport division) and TRANSDEV.
