Figure 1.2. Prototype of the informational fountain from the ANR Viatic.Mobilité project
In 2009, the continuity of the information service of the viatic concept was also
to be found on board a regional express train financed by the Regional Council of
the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in Northern France. An autonomous interactive
screen allowed for a general display on a large screen and access to more detailed
information on nomad equipment via a WiFi network [UST 09]. This limited trial,
partly financed by the i-trans competitivity cluster and supported by a rail
industrialist, did not the allow travelers to completely test the benefits offered, but
has opened up promising perspectives.
1.5. Other traveler information-based representative research projects in a
multimodal context
In this section, several traveler information-based research projects in a
multimodal context will be put forward. They give an overview of multimodal
information systems that should ultimately be made available to users and which for
the most part also envisage new opportunities in terms of human-machine
interactions.
