Figure 7.10. Architecture of the assistance
The functioning principle of the VIVRE2 system is based on an assistance
strategy that varies according to the proximity of vulnerable users. For this, the
space around the vehicle has been segmented into three decision zone families
(Figure 7.11):
INF Back3
BKG Back1
BKG Front1
WNG Front2
WNG Back2
INF Front3
WNG Right2 BKG Right1
Figure 7.11. Decision zones of the functioning of the assistance
- The “emergency braking, braking” (BKG) zone corresponds to situations in
which a user is in immediate danger. It is applicable to the front, back, and right
spaces of the vehicle.
- The “warning” (WNG) zone corresponds to situations in which a user is in
danger if the driver does not react quickly enough. It is applicable to the front, back,
and right spaces of the vehicle.
- The “information” (INF) zone, corresponds to situations in which a user is in
deferred danger: he could be in danger in the next few seconds if the driver has not
detected him. It is applicable to the front and back spaces of the vehicle.
7.5.2.2. Driver intention model
In addition to the consideration of the presence and proximity of vulnerable users
around the vehicle, the VIVRE2 systems function differently depending on the
behavior of the driver, by estimating whether or not he has taken the danger into
account [TAT 10]. The behaviors of the driver were categorized according to several
