In-Depth Information
When a bus approaches the right hand lane is
reserved for it. After the bus has passed the
reserved lane is given back to the general
public
No bus: circulation of vehicles on two
lanes
Figure 6.10. Case 1 - transformation of the right hand lane into a bus lane
From the simplest (cases 1 and 2, Figures 6.10 and 6.11) to the very complex
(last case, Figure 6.12), each requires an appropriate infrastructure.
Saturation of the ascending lane: the
reserved lane enables the buses to avoid the
traffic jam. In the other direction, the buses
are mixed with the non congested general
traffic
Saturation of the descending lane: the lane
reserved for buses is inversed
Figure 6.11. Case 2 - change in a direction of a bus lane
The alternative use of the two previous solutions according to the number of
buses arriving in the single lane section, gives the complex case presented in
Figure 6.12.
