First-Hand Observation
Perhaps the most obvious analysis technique and one that is often overlooked
for a variety of reasons (not least of which is the modern tendency to depend
on technology and gadgets for everything) is first-hand observation on
the part of the artist. Observation and the skill of “seeing” served many of
the greatest artists that ever lived, and the earliest pioneering animators
depended on their own observations of action and movement. Try to get into
