Using Hands and Articulation
The use of tools distinguishes mankind from other animals. We are the
technological animal. Early humans fashioned tools from bone and stone;
then later, after they had mastered the use of fire, they discovered the secrets
of bronze and iron. From there humans' tools became ever more elaborate.
We are now so technically advanced that we are able, with the assistance of
precision engineering, to make tools and machines so advanced that we can
reach out to the stars.
Our own basic tools, our hands, have not developed for hundreds of
thousands of years. The articulation of the hands provides the necessary
dexterity that allows the most subtle and delicate of actions of the artist, the
musician, and the surgeon. Hands also provide power and strength and the
