Key to this action is the need to remain in a balanced state for longer periods
throughout the sequence. In the very frail the feet are often barely lifted from
the ground, resulting in a shuffling action.
Many old people gain benefit from the use of a walking stick or other aid to
assist with balance and help with support when weaknesses in the legs make
walking difficult.
