When the angle of the slope becomes very steep, the walking gait is replaced
by a scrambling gait. At this point the hands may be extended forward to be
placed on the ground and so provide a little support and assist in achieving
stability and balance. Naturally, as the angle of the slope increases, the effort
needed to climb the slope also increases.
When a person is walking down a slope or down steps, the body remains in a
more upright position and the stride length reduces considerably from that
