The foot is connected to the leg at the juncture of the tibia and fibula with the
ankle joint, the talus.
The foot itself is a complex structure that may be considered in two parts:
the inner and the outer. The inner part of the foot is made up of a number of
bones: the talus (this connects the leg to the foot), the calcaneus (the heel),
the navicular, the cuboid, and three cuneiforms. This combination of bones
provides the shock absorption during locomotion.
