The Elbow
The elbow is a complex joint. Though it may be considered a hinge joint, the
two bones of the forearm, the ulna and the radius, are attached to the humerus
in different ways. The connection between the humerus and the ulna is a
hinge joint; the connection between the humerus and the radius is a restricted
ball-and-socket joint, a kind of gliding joint. The structure allows for the flexion,
extension, and rotation of the forearm.
