Called colectivos , buses are an extremely popu-
lar way for porteños to move through the city.
We give them a less enthusiastic vote than the
Subte because there are so many lines that it is
easy to become confused. Also, since buses are
often overcrowded, it is hard to see where you
are going.
Tip
A word of advice: make sure the driver
knows exactly where you want to go. If
you don't make a point of telling him
and you are the only passenger for your
destination, forget it! The bus will keep
on moving. Practice just enough Span-
ish to say “I am going to...” (Quiero ir
a...) and you won't be sorry.
