Best Places to Eat
Italian trattorias and parrilladas are among
the most prevalant and finest of Mendoza's res-
taurants. Regional specialties include
asado
criollo
(barbecued goat and veal),
humitas
(sweet tamales),
patitas aliƱadas
(spiced legs of
beef or veal),
ternera con cuero
(veal cooked in
its skin) and
tomatican
(stewed tomatoes). Of
course, it would be almost unconscionable not
to accompany one of these regional specialties
with one of Mendoza's fine wines.
Did You Know?
Interestingly enough, Mendoza sup-
plies the country with mineral water.
The country's most popular is
Villavicencio, which comes from a
spring 1,750 meters above sea level.
