Your best option for handicrafts and t ípicos
such as mates and bombillas (the gourds and
silver straws used to drink mate ), ponchos, sil-
ver and leather items is the large artisan fair
which is held every day until 8 pm on the Plaza
Italia. Also known as the Paseo de las Artes ,
it is on the Cañada, south of the Plaza Vélez
Sársfield, at the intersection of Marcelo T. de
Alvear and Achaval Rodriguez. Shops selling
regional crafts are located throughout the colo-
nial section.
