6.3.4.5 Shrinkage
Shrinkage results were obtained from the campaigns of Cervantes et al. ( 2007 ) and
Gomez-Soberón ( 2002 ) at the age of 28 and 90 days, respectively. The general
trend is that of a progressive increase of shrinkage with the inclusion of recycled
aggregates in the concrete mixes, which is explained by the higher absorption and
lower stiffness of the RA compared with the NA.
Figure 6.5 (top) shows the variation of the ratio between the 28- and 90-day
shrinkages of concrete and the ratio between the densities of the mixture of
