Summary
This chapter has focused on the need for continued management and
maintenance in enterprise network operations and support. Like the
bridge that is forever being painted somewhere along its length, an
extended enterprise network must be perpetually updated, patched, and
refreshed. Policy development, communication, and implementation are
critical to ensure that users and technical implementers alike accept and
support this ongoing requirement. The next chapters will examine com-
mon threats to the enterprise, defensive measures to address these threats,
and strategies for disaster recovery and business continuity.
