Free open-source software (FOSS) and commercial technology imple-
menters, developers, and support communities make extensive use of blog-
ging in order to identify solutions to commonly experienced problems in
setup, configuration, or other aspects of implementation. Among develop-
ment teams, blogs provide insight into the intent of testing and development
choices, so that other members of a distributed team can better participate
in the overall solution developmentā€”a distinct advantage for teams coor-
dinating in geographically distributed or service-oriented development.

Web logs, handlers' diaries, developers' notes, and many other forms of
professional content can be easily maintained using Web logs. However,
blogging provides only a one-way mechanism to present information to
its consuming audience. To facilitate two-way participation by multiple
contributors, forums and electronic bulletin boards provide a medium for
information submission and coordination.
