FIGURE 4.25 Screen shot from OpenSim showing the modular parts of the classroom laid out on the Martian terrain.
Note the black alignment cubes.
Please note the black alignment cubes that are attached to each element, except for the outermost glass
doors (these you can easily align by eye). These are important parts to help you align the various model
sections for this particular coniguration of the classroom.
After you upload these models into your world and have them rezzed on the ground near each other,
check to make sure that the alignment cubes are the key prim (the prim all other prims are linked to) on
these elements. As you probably know, the key prim is indicated with a yellow outline when you have a
linked object selected in the Build/Edit menu, and the rest of the linked objects will be highlighted in blue.
Sometimes, when a model is uploaded into OpenSim or Second Life, the key prim is changed. If the .dae
model iles have not uploaded into your virtual environment with the alignment cube as the key prim, go
into the Edit Linked mode (check the box on the Build/Edit menu), and unlink the alignment prim. Without
moving it, deselect everything by clicking on the ground or sky. Now, re-select the model, and then the align-
ment cube, and link them back together. The cube should now be the key prim, and show a yellow highlight,
while the rest of the model is highlighted in blue.
Now, you are good to go. Let's start the construction by opening the Build/Edit menu. If you have the space on
your region, you could just lay out all the parts and shift/copy or drag a new one from your inventory as needed.
