micromixers allows the formation of liquid films ( Fig. 9.1 ) or small gas bubbles ( Fig. 9.2 ), thus
increasing the contact surface between the two phases. Common gas-liquid reactions are [1] :
Substitution reactions (fluorination, chlorination, and nitration),
Addition reactions, and
Dehydration reactions.
Substitution reactions such as fluorination, chlorination, and nitration can be carried out in a gas-
liquid system. For example, fluorine gas (F 2 ) can be used directly for fluorination. The small size of
