consists of a tube formed from a single wire that is then placed perpendicular to the
surface of a microprocessor, an example of which is shown in Fig. 1.2 .
In this chapter we discuss side-channel analysis using the power consumption
as a running example. The same analysis can be made using acquisitions from an
electromagnetic probe. However, these acquisitions are typically more noisy and are
therefore less suitable for presenting clear examples.
