Choose to sharpen only the selected front panel.
The result is a sharp front panel.
6 Click OK; look at your Layers panel and notice that the filter was added as well as a Filter effects
mask thumbnail.
7 Turn off and back on the Unsharp mask effect by clicking the visibility icon ( ) to the left of the Un-
sharp Mask effect in the Layers panel. You can easily remove a filter effect when it is applied to a
Smart Object.
You will keep this filter effect in this exercise, but if you need to completely remove a filter, you can
drag it to the Trash can icon in the lower portion of your Layers panel.
8 Double-click Unsharp Mask in the Layers panel; notice that the filter effect is editable. This action
does not apply a second Unsharp mask filter to your image, but lets you edit the existing Filter effect.
9 Change the value in the Amount text field to 225 , and then click OK.
The mask was automatically created by your selection when you selected to apply the Unsharp mask
filter, but you can edit this mask just as you can edit any other.
10 To see how the image would look without the Filter effects mask, press and hold the Shift key and
click the Thumbnail of the Filter effects mask. An “X” appears and the mask is disabled. This shows
how the image would look if the sharpening was applied to the entire image.
