4 Once the image is opened, choose File > Save As and type advps0301_work into the File name text
field. Keep the Photoshop (PSD) format and make sure you are saving it in the advps03lessons folder.

ing many of these tools. Even as an advanced user, you should read this content over, since it covers ad-
ditional tips and tricks that you might have missed in your experience with Photoshop.
Rectangular Marquee tool
The Rectangular Marquee tool ( ) tool allows you to create simple rectangular selections. Press M at any
time to select the Rectangular Marquee tool.
Tips for using the Rectangular Marquee tool:
If there are no other active selections in your image area, you can constrain the rectangular marquee se-
lection to a square by pressing and holding the Shift key while clicking and dragging.
You can begin a selection from the center by pressing and holding the Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac
OS) key while dragging. Keep the selection constrained at the same time by pressing and holding the
Alt/Option and the Shift key simultaneously while creating the selection.
Elliptical Marquee tool
The Elliptical Marquee tool ( ) is the hidden tool for the Rectangular Marquee. You can get to it by
pressing Shift+M, or by selecting the arrow in the lower-right corner of the Rectangular Marquee tool.
Shift M toggles you back and forth between the Rectangular and Elliptical Marquee tools.
If there are no other active selections in your image area, you can constrain the elliptical marquee selec-
tion to a circle by pressing and holding the Shift key while clicking and dragging.
